Keeping it Cool for Summer & Warm Weather Weddings

In warm summer months like July and August planning ahead for your guests’ comfort is a great way to ensure an enjoyable experience for all. Here in Southern California, some months can have unpredictably hot and dry weather, making this more difficult. Unless your wedding is a completely indoor event, consider these ideas for keeping it cool during warm weather weddings.

Event Tents
The most costly remedy for scorching hot weather and no available shade is to rent an event tent. Event tents come in many shapes, sizes, and styles. Some are temporary structures with a roof and walls and some just provide a shade canopy. Tent rental companies also often offer the option of large barrel fans to keep the air circulating inside the tent, so be sure to ask what would be suitable for your needs. You can view different types of tents here.

Appropriate Attire

Suggesting more casual attire for your guests in your invitation is a great way to ensure that they will be comfortable. Also consider your wedding dress cut and style as well as what your fiancé will be wearing. No tailed tuxes and three piece suits for 80+ degree weather. . . it may look nice but a sweaty stuffy and hot groom is not a happy groom. Also what bride wants to wear a heavy layered full-length gown and look all irritated and sweaty in her wedding pictures? Not me! Soft, light-weight, flowing fabrics for her and nice button down shirts and perhaps a bowtie with slacks for him works nicely.

Refreshing Refreshments
Who wants to eat hot heaps of food on a warm day? Keep this in mind when deciding on a menu for your wedding day. In addition to keeping cool beverages at hand, some food selections can have a light refreshing affect. For example, serve a cold soup like gazpacho, melon kabobs with mozzarella cheese, cool cucumber slaw, a delicate sorbet, or fruit and veggies with cool dip options as appetizers. Have an ice cream sundae bar or buffet for dessert.

A little planning ahead can go a long way in making your event enjoyable & memorable. Time of day, location, refreshments, shade, and attire are just a few things to consider in making your day a huge success! Happy planning y’all! Love, VW
