Enjoy creative cocktails and serve signature drinks created after your favorite celebs or the couple’s fav flavors. Red Velvet flavored wine or champagne in dusted gold glitter flute glasses can be very festive and fitting too! This easy DIY project can add a little sparkle for a little bit of money (supplies: gold glitter, plastic flute glasses, glue).
Awesome Cupcakes from Connecticut in Style!

On Pinterest, you’re sure to find several options for red carpet inspired food: appetizers,  hors d' oeuvres, and desserts, so Pin away to your heart’s content! We particularly like the simple Red Carpet Cupcakes(pictured above) from Connecticut in Style or try the PeanutButter Cup Popcorn Balls from Sugar Hero. If you have the party budget, you may even decide to have a catered event (speak with the company to find out how many servers or how much food they recommend). If you are having a smaller dinner party, it might be fun to hire a personal chef who prepares the food before you. An entertaining and elegant touch for more intimate events! Check online for personal chefs in your area (hireachef.com) and look at their customer reviews to find a good fit for you.

What’s better thank getting all dressed up and partying with your glammed up friends? Creating fun photo memories too! Set up a photo booth, designate a photographer for the evening, and be sure to have a sign reminding your guests where they can share the pictures they take that evening. You could have props, a fun back drop or green screen or a hanging film strip cut out for multiple friends at once! You will be able to find lots of free printables online or could order a number of red carpet party items for a relatively low price! Be sure to accents with festive lighting, stars, and glitter!

If you’re really getting red carpet fever, you might even want to pass out awards! Have categories selected (like best-dressed: female, male, couple; best makeup & hair; Most Animated; Most Supportive; etc.) and announce the award winners throughout the party. This was especially fun at a party I attended where the fathers-in-law were selected as best dressed couple for the matchhing Hawaiian shirts they donned after the tuxes got “too stuffy.”

Whatever you decide on for your Red Carpet Oscar ready evening, we hope you’ll share in the comments below! Love from VW!

How and When to Announce Your Engagement

Now that he’s planned all the romantic details of how to propose and has successfully swept you off your feet, your fiancé can breathe a sigh of relief. . . or can he???!? If your parents have never met your future spouse, this can be an extreme source of anxiety. As parents, siblings, and close family are usually the first to hear the news of your engagement, it would be helpful to introduce him into conversations, prompting questions and opportunities to share more about him before bringing him over for a visit. Once you are all familiar, then you can feel reassured of you happy news being received more warmly, instead of it being a complete shock.
